None of us are safe from depression, anger,low self esteem. They could strike at any time. Close to home (Australia) there have been too many sad deaths of younger souls through depression, whether it be physical bullying or cyber bullying or just some other trigger that sets someone to take ones own life. Just how and what it takes to see the signs is an unknown but hopefully one day the mystery will be clearer and lives will be saved.

Too many deaths,too many shattered families have resulted through violence and anger,often induced by alcohol or other substance abuse and addiction. No one has the answer to these sad and hideous events,often limited but not exclusive to families. Whilst murder/suicide incidents only apply to 3% of all homicides (Aust.2010),  what of families and homicide?  According to the Australian Institute of Crimology (AIC) : In Australia, almost two in five homicides occur between family members, with an average of 129 family homicides each year. The majority of family homicides occur between intimate partners (60 per cent), and three-quarters of intimate partner homicides involve males killing their female partners. On average, 25 children are killed each year by a parent, with children under the age of one at the highest risk of victimisation. The less common types of family homicide include children killing their parents (12 incidents per year), homicide between siblings (six incidents per year), and homicides between other family members (11 incidents per year).                           Adam Graycar, Director of the AIC from AIC Trends & Issues in Crime and Criminal Justice.
